Taking the corners with speed

Things are speeding up even more for me, which feels kinda weird and unpleasant sometimes. A hyperactive mind isn't always good.

This is the reason for todays picture, the harbor of Wustrow on the Darss peninsula. Looking at this picture I want to go there right away, I love the Darss.

Getting to the next stage

I can already see the next stage of my career path and getting there means boring work. Which meant dilly-dallying yesterday to avoid it. However today I feel quite upbeat and fired to get to this next stage and doing things.

As you can see in the following two postcards I have made it to the next stage of ornamental art: overlapping ornaments. It took me years to get to this stage. I'm quite excited to have finally made it. Though they still need some work, I'm quite happy with my first works.

Tonight I'll meet with some photographers and I'm really excited about it.

As I've said, I've got a ton of great pictures waiting to be published. Another picture from last years Darss vacation.

The Empty Shell

When I went through the pictures on my cameras memory card, searching for some specific food pics, I found tons of beautiful pictures that I had forgotten about. This is one of those forgotten treasures. I took it last March during my Darss trip. I would love to go there today. The seaside is fantastic, as is the Kooks song "seaside".

I had a pretty awesome day yesterday and I hope for an awesome weekend too. The weather is certainly wonderful.

A sunset at the Baltic Sea

Sometimes a change of perspective is all that is needed

A roadblock can seem very daunting.

But sometimes all you need to do is to stand up (for yourself), therefore change your perspective and suddenly the former roadblock has become a small drawback that is easily circumvented or jumped over.

Normally today would be my Offline-Day, but due to tomorrow I've decided to shift this Offline-Day to another day. Anyway, in about 1 1/2 hours I will get my first swimming lesson since 4th grade. I'm quite excited about it. Learning freestyle and turns and whatever. Afterwards I'm at my usual Sunday space, with coffee and waffles. Wohoo.

My mood is improving daily. Probably because it gets warmer and today it is almost sunny. Sophie Ellis-Bextor provides currently my kind of music. I've found a solution to my picture presentation problem, the solution was literally hanging on my wall.

And I've decided to attend a watercolor painting class at Leipzig's Adult Education Center, because there is a lot more that I want to learn about watercolor and I need some intellectual input and people to talk about watercolor painting. I just hope the class that I want to take will run, because I have an uncanny knack of always picking the classes which are cancelled. The topic of my chosen class isn't landscape, which could be a problem, since this seems to be what you usually paint in watercolors: land- and cityscapes. How uninspired....

I have my first wedding photography assignment, the wedding party of friends in June. Which provides me with several challenges. First camera wise, I'll have to buy my Canon 600D on 30th April latest, to have a full month to test and get used to it. Photography with sun and artificial light, how long does the battery last, how many memory cards will I need, etc And secondly it is a challenge dresswise. I want to wear a really beautiful dress, the challenge is to get one with enough freedom to move to do my photography.

My way

This picture (without my hair ;-) symbolizes my current way of life. I now know where it is leading, since I can see a bit of the pinewood (pinewoods are my favourite woods, the light and walking in them is always amazing) on the horizon, the weather is nice, but the next stretch is beige = boring, ugh. So this is probably the reason why I stalled this last week. I know exactly what I want, where I am headed, but this next stretch of my way is just ...
Well, today the sun shines, which is always something that puts me into the mood to get going and doing and making my way. Okay, I switched the music to something pushing me forward. Let's get this beige stretch get over and done with!

Geometric Forms embedded into Nature and the joy of a full mailbox

Going through my pictures today, while preparing my next few posts, I just realized that I currently totally like photographies that show architectural structures and therefore geometric forms embedded into nature. Thus the new series on this blog that comes without a certain schedule.

Today I took the afternoon off, since I was pretty tired and that even with 7 hours of sleep last night! 
I seriously went to bed at 7:30 PM and turned of the light at 8:15 PM. However it didn't seem to matter, when my alarm clock rang at 4:33 AM, I nearly fell out of the bed. 

Yesterday was kinda interesting. Somehow the Universe seems to want me to befriend Tuesdays again. If you read this blog you probably know that Tuesdays and I aren't the best of friends. I have no problems with the other days of the week, but Tuesdays always tended to be a bit off. 
Sooo, during the last weeks, Tuesdays were the days when I found nice postcards in the mail. Yes, plural. However yesterday, the Universe had gotten out the big guns: 4 postcards, 1 letter and the second hand book I had ordered I found in my mailbox! I dare say this was a very happy day for my mailbox and me. *grinning from ear to ear* Especially since the letter contained a christmas calendar in card form from a dear friend. It seems as if all the letter- and cardwriting I do starts paying off and my friends are getting around to using snailmail again. ;-) Because last week I got a letter from another dear friend and the week before that I received a card from another friend who wasn't even on holiday but answered to the letter I had send her before.* After all she is checking her physical mailbox daily, but she checks her emails only every few weeks or so. So it's actually faster to use snailmail with her, how fun is that?!

* I'm not telling you that my letter was six pages long and she only used one postcard. Ahem...

In need of comfort

You know: I literally HATE the month November. Its not a dislike but pure HATRED. It is grey, it's cold, what's even worse it is a wet cold that creeps into your bones, the days go unbearably shorter day by day by day, the people around us become irritable, the year end crazyness gets to everyone, this month plainly just SUCKS.

On days like this I need comfort. Comfort to me means: a warm cup of hot and awesome tea*, a thick and cosy planket to curl up in, a good book to read**, cooking and enjoying dinners with friends (in my own flat, so that I don't have to go out), watching good movies with friends including nice popcorn, watching Harry Potter 1 or 2***, warm footbaths, finding letters and postcards from friends in my mailbox or looking at pictures like this above and remembering the joy of the moment. This picture I took at the Teeschale Prerow, which is an awesome, cozy and really comforting teahouse on the Darss. The two balls aren't icecream but homemade whipped cream, in fact it was the best whipped cream I ever had in my life. I just LOVED it. The cake was good too, but the whipped cream certainly was the star. I loved the whole experience. My Dad and I were sitting in this little nook and thorougly enjoyed our tea and food. One word of advice if you want to visit the Teeschale and the Darss in general, go during the off-season. It has many advantages and you actually get a table at the Teeschale and can enjoy your food in relative quiet. During the season...

The calm at the sea

Sometimes I need pictures like this. On the one hand yesterday was quite successful, I've made myself an amazing lunch, I clicked with my hairstylist and therefore have a cool hairstyle that fits me to a tee, I finally through out tons of garbage, I've succeeded in eating healthy grain- and sugar(!!!)-free, I got the ingredients for kimchi including korean hot pepper flakes. So yeah, quite a day. However my mood was rotten. Today will hopefully be better, well, I've started it with an awesome breakfast-omelette, so it should be a nice day.
